Análisis de la aptitud territorial: Una perspectiva biofísica
Synopsis
In this work, strategies for evaluating the productive aptitude of the territory are analyzed and the methods most used in Mexico and other analogous countries are reviewed in terms of environmental characteristics and problems. The requirements of selected production systems are compared against the characteristics or qualities of the territories under study, the latter segmented into geopedological units, as described in the previous notebook. Two different approaches used to implement land evaluation models are presented: qualitative and quantitative. Both approaches allow optimization of the land use proposals, either at the level of aptitude or vocation. Traditionally, qualitative procedures have been used to generalize use skills and to select recommended uses. This methodology is appropriate in small-scale studies, where there is a greater generalizability in the level of detail of the data, such as regional studies. The quantitative approach is used in the presence of a database with greater detail and precision, as in large-scale studies. In short, the scale of the study, with the consequent level of detail of the data, conditions the approach used for land evaluation.
