Contribuciones para el desarrollo sostenible de la Cuenca del lago de Cuitzeo, Michoacán
Synopsis
Tzirio Island is a community of collectors who work on the banks of the Cuitzeo lagoon, whose main activity is the cutting, drying and sale of tule. In addition to that there is fishing and hunting activity on a smaller scale. On a much smaller scale, maize is also planted. The community has not changed its way of life for many generations, since they continue to exploit the same natural product that the lagoon offers them. Together with this job and the very life of the inhabitants, a generalized misery appears very markedly.
