Synopsis

This book is the product of the dialogue that arose between graduate students and prominent academics and researchers on the topic of regional urban development, within the framework of the national congress that took place on May 24 and 25, 2012 in Pachuca, Hidalgo . New ideas and visions of regional urban development contribute to putting this problem at the center of the national debate, building theoretical and practical alternatives that help to overcome the deep regional crisis currently being experienced throughout the country.

With this publication, the vision is broadened to identify the problem in its entirety, where the central proposal is to overcome a vision that focuses exclusively on the reporting of problems and move to the next level, propose solutions to each of them, involving the actions of the governments and the governed through the search for different models, seen from systematic perspectives that are capable of predicting and responding to the problems that are generated in the different areas of the territory we inhabit.

The book is structured around three fundamental axes: in the first we find various theoretical-methodological approaches to urban, rural and regional development; the second highlights issues of population, government and regional governance; and the third addresses issues of the environment, planning, management, risks and vulnerability at the territorial level.
