Synopsis

Donald D. Brand (1905-1984), geographer and anthropologist from the University of California, was, along with Robert West and Dan Stanislawski, one of the direct disciples of Carl O. Sauer, founder of the so-called Berkeley School. His publications implied an important field work, as well as a substantial contribution to the development of cultural geography and geography, in general, in Mexico. The text that we now present helps to understand its relevance, both in terms of its conceptual contribution and in terms of its contribution to the knowledge of Michoacan geography.
